Almost two hundred thousand foreign tourists visit Sri Lanka in August 2025
(MENAFN) Sri Lanka welcomed nearly 200,000 foreign visitors in August 2025, according to reports from local tourism authorities.
The 198,235 arrivals represented a 20.4 percent rise compared with the same month last year. From January to August, the island nation recorded a total of 1,566,523 international arrivals. India, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, and China were the leading sources of tourists during this period.
Tourism, a vital contributor to Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange earnings, generated over 2 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2025, according to data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
