Fire Eruption Forces Hundreds to Evacuate in Russia’s Volgograd


(MENAFN) A significant fire erupted at a market in Volgograd, Russia, leading to the evacuation of up to 600 people, authorities reported Saturday. The blaze consumed approximately 3,000 square meters (32,291 square feet) of the commercial area, according to the country’s Emergency Situations Ministry.

The ministry’s statement confirmed that the fire started inside the market located in the Traktorozavodsky District. "Upon the arrival of fire and rescue units, it was established that the fire involved the combustion of commercial pavilions and their merchandise," the statement detailed.

Responders deployed over 100 specialists and 41 pieces of firefighting equipment to tackle the intense blaze.
