First Govt-Run Kindergarten For Children With Early Learning Challenges To Open This Year
DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) will open Al-Jiwan Kindergarten for Early Intervention this academic year (2025-26), marking Qatar's first government-run kindergarten dedicated to children with special needs and early learning challenges.
The establishment of Al-Jiwan reflects the Ministry's drive to enhance inclusive education and provide early-stage support for children who require specialised attention. The kindergarten will offer tailored programmes and resources to help children overcome developmental and learning challenges, ensuring they are better prepared for their educational journey.
Speaking to Qatar TV yesterday, MoEHE Undersecretary H E Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi said:“Al-Jiwan Kindergarten for Early Intervention is an important milestone for Qatar's education sector. It reflects our commitment to every child's right to a supportive and stimulating learning environment, regardless of their challenges.” In addition to Al-Jiwan, the Ministry will open three other new kindergartens this year, as part of its efforts to expand early childhood education and provide more options for families across the country.
The Ministry also confirmed the inauguration of eight new schools at the primary, preparatory, and secondary levels in different regions of Qatar. These schools, developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) programme, will be equipped with advanced infrastructure to provide modern, high-quality education.
Dr. Al Nuaimi explained that the Ministry's priorities extend beyond expanding facilities.“Our goal is to prepare a new generation of students capable of competing globally at the highest levels,” he said. He highlighted that teachers remain at the heart of the educational process, with the Ministry focusing on their professional growth, training, and development.
He added that creating a motivating and attractive school environment is central to the Ministry's work:“We want students to attend school with a positive and enthusiastic spirit. That is why we continue to modernise school buildings, update facilities, and ensure the learning environment inspires success.” Other upcoming projects include the establishment of a new technical school for girls in northern Qatar, designed to provide advanced learning opportunities and specialised skills training.“These initiatives form part of the Ministry's ongoing strategy to modernise and enhance education in Qatar,” Dr. Al Nuaimi concluded.“With projects like Al-Jiwan Kindergarten for Early Intervention, we are building a system that is inclusive, innovative, and future-ready.”
At the same time, several existing schools are undergoing refurbishment to meet modern educational standards.
Looking ahead, the Ministry is prioritising projects that respond to Qatar's growing population and increasing student enrolment.
Plans include continuous curriculum development, upgrading digital infrastructure, and advancing the shift toward digital learning.
