Vanessa Newby is Senior Lecturer, Politics & International Relations at Monash University and a founder and former president of the Netherlands chapter of Women in International Security (WIIS). Her research interests include peacekeeping, gender and security and the international relations of the Middle East. Vanessa has conducted research on the Middle East for over twelve years and she is an Arabic speaker. She is the author of Peacekeeping in South Lebanon: Credibility and Local Cooperation with Syracuse University Press (2018) and has published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Global Studies Quarterly, Global Governance and Third World Quarterly.
