U.S. Sends 10 F-35 Jets to Korean Peninsula for Joint Military Drill
(MENAFN) The United States has sent 10 F-35 fighter jets to the Korean Peninsula to participate in the ongoing joint summer military exercise with South Korea, according to local reports on Monday.
Media reported that the deployment of both F-35A and F-35B variants coincides with the 11-day Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise, which is scheduled to conclude on Thursday.
These advanced aircraft, belonging to the US Air Force (F-35A) and US Marine Corps (F-35B), have been temporarily stationed at Kunsan Air Base, confirmed a US Forces Korea official.
During the deployment, the F-35s will conduct training alongside South Korean forces, focusing on defensive counter-air tactics and reinforcing operational cohesion to boost joint preparedness and deter potential regional threats.
