General Staff Reports 60 Clashes On Frontline Since Day-Start, Intense Fighting In Pokrovsk Sector

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook , providing operational update as of 16:00 on Friday, August 22, according to Ukrinform.

The report notes that Ukrainian defenders are exhausting Russian forces along the entire line of contact and in the rear.

Russian forces struck Sumy region today: artillery targeted the areas of Novovasylivka, Zarichne, Seredyna-Buda, Muraveina, and Studenok, while airstrikes hit Stara Huta and Znob-Novhorodske.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors , Ukrainian forces repelled four enemy attacks, with one battle still ongoing. Russian troops used five guided aerial bombs and carried out 135 artillery strikes, including one with multiple rocket launchers.

“Ukrainian units are actively disrupting the occupiers' plans and have achieved successes in certain locations,” the General Staff stated.

No attacks have been reported in the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector today.

In the Kupiansk sector , Russian forces attempted five times to advance on Ukrainian positions in Kindrashivka, Myrne, Stepova Novoselivka, and Zahryzove. Three attacks were successfully repelled, while two clashes continue.

In the Lyman sector , Ukrainian defenders repelled six enemy attacks near Hrekivka, Zelena Dolyna, Kolodiazi, and Torske, toward Serebrianka. Three clashes are still ongoing.

In the Siversk sector , Russian troops tried to advance near Vyimka and Pereizne. Ukrainian forces have repelled one attack, while another battle continues.

In the Kramatorsk secto r, the Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy offensive near Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk sector , Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian positions five times in Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, Poltavka, and toward Stepanivka. Guided bombs were dropped on Kostiantynivka.

In the P okrovsk sector , the enemy attempted 22 advances toward Ukrainian positions near Nikanorivka, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Rodynske, Bilytske, Sukhyi Yar, Chunysheve, Zvirove, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka, and Dachne.

In the Novopavlivka secto r, Russian troops launched eight attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Tovste, Shevchenko, Olhivske, Zaporizke, and Temyrivka. Three clashes are still ongoing. Airstrikes hit Vyshneve.

No offensive actions were reported today on the Orikhiv and Huliaipole sectors , although Russian forces carried out airstrikes on Stepnohirsk and Uspenivka.

In the Prydniprovske sector , the enemy attempted four advances on Ukrainian positions but failed.

In other sectors, the situation has not significantly changed.

Previously, Ukrinform reported that in Donetsk region, DIU special forces halted the advance of Russian units and eliminated over 90 occupiers.
