I am a Transnational Family Specialist and Researcher with a Master's degree in Social Work, where I explored men's experiences of divorce, and a Master's in Psychology from UNISA (2012). I completed my PhD in Social Work and Criminology at the University of Pretoria in 2015, focusing on the emotional impact of emigration on families left behind: "Parents Left Behind After the Emigration of Their Adult Children: An Experiential Journey. I am a member of the South African Association for Social Workers in Private Practice (SAASWIPP) and a registered social worker the years, I have published various articles on migration, ambiguous loss, and intergenerational relationships in transnational families. I run a private practice that focuses on the emotional challenges of emigration and ambiguous loss, offering consultation to individuals and families navigating these complex transitions.
I was recently appointed as a Research Fellow at the University of Johannesburg, where I continue to explore the psychosocial impact of emigration on family systems.
