CAR authorities confirm nation’s date of general elections

(MENAFN) Authorities in the Central African Republic (CAR) have officially announced that the country’s local, legislative, and presidential elections are scheduled to take place on December 28.

At a recent gathering with officials from the National Elections Authority in the capital city, Bangui, Minister of Territorial Administration Bruno Yapande emphasized that the polls must occur on the planned date after experiencing several delays.

"Dec. 28 is a constitutional date. It cannot be questioned. All measures have already been taken. We will soon proceed to order electoral materials," Yapande stated.

He also mentioned that the government will soon initiate preparations to engage voters and open the process for candidate registrations.
