
Chris Lamb
Chris Lamb, Ph.D., is chairman of the Journalism and Public Relations Department at Indiana University-Indianapolis. He is the author/editor of twelve books, including Stolen Dreams: The Cannon Street All-Stars and Little League Baseball's Civil War (University of Nebraska, April 2022). His other books include Conspiracy of Silence: Sportswriters and the Long Campaign to Desegregate Baseball; Blackout: The Untold Story of Jackie Robinson's First Spring Training; The Art of the Political Putdown: The Greatest Comebacks, Ripostes, and Retorts in History (2020); Sports Journalism: A History of Glory, Fame and Technology (2020); Jackie Robinson: A Spiritual Biography (2018); From Jack Johnson to LeBron James: Race, Politics and the Media (University of Nebraska Press, January 2016); and Drawn to Extremes: The Use and Abuse of Editorial Cartoons (2004).
Before becoming a college professor, he worked for newspapers and magazines for ten years. Since becoming a professor, his articles and columns have appeared in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, ESPN, New Republic, The Undefeated, etc. His research articles have appeared in Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Journal of American History, Journalism History, and other scholarly journals. He has twice been a Pulitzer Prize judge in the category of editorial cartooning.
