Multiple gunmen shoot seven civilians in Ecuador

(MENAFN) A shooting in the northwestern Ecuadorian province of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas on Sunday morning left seven people dead, according to reports.

Multiple gunmen dressed in black reportedly entered a local billiard hall in the provincial capital, Santo Domingo, and opened fire on those inside. Local authorities quickly secured the area following the attack.

Early investigations indicate that among the deceased were a retired police officer and a suspected gang leader known as “Rasta.” The province, situated between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific coast and intersected by several drug trafficking routes, has frequently experienced violent incidents linked to gang rivalries.
