Heavy Rains, Flooding Devastate Afghanistan’s Parwan Province
(MENAFN) Heavy rains unleashed severe flooding overnight Sunday, causing extensive property damage across eastern Afghanistan’s Parwan province, the provincial government reported Monday.
The statement added that the rainstorms, which set off severe flooding, wiped out a 21-kilometer stretch of road connecting Parwan with central Bamiyan province, and also damaged water canals, agricultural land, gardens, and multiple homes in Siagurd district. It further noted that the Parwan-Bamiyan route has been shut down due to the flooding.
Damage was not confined to Siagurd alone; flash floods also inflicted significant property loss in Koh-e-Safi district, the statement revealed.
Looking ahead, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation’s meteorological department forecasted continued rainfall across several regions of Afghanistan for Monday, signaling ongoing risk of flooding.
