Faith Kearns

Faith Kearns is a scientist and science communicator with the Arizona Water Innovation Initiative in the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University. She has worked on disasters ranging from wildfire to drought in the western U.S. for over two decades. Kearns is the author of the book Getting to the Heart of Science Communication: A Guide to Engagement, and has written for outlets ranging from New Republic to BBC to On Being. She co-hosts the podcast Water Talk with Mallika Nocco and Sam Sandoval.

Kearns previously worked with the California Institute for Water Resources at the University of California, the Pew Charitable Trusts, the Center for Fire Research and Outreach at UC Berkeley, and the Ecological Society of America, as well as served as a AAAS Science and Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of State. She received degrees in environmental science from the University of California, Berkeley (Ph.D.) and Northern Arizona University (B.S.).
