New Zealand Pledges Strong Support to Pacific Regionalism

(MENAFN) New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters reaffirmed the country’s dedication to Pacific regionalism during his address at the Pacific Islands Forum Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Fiji on Thursday.

"New Zealand is a steadfast and long-standing advocate for Pacific regionalism," Peters emphasized, according to a statement from the New Zealand government.

In his remarks, Peters underscored New Zealand’s historical role as a founding member of the Pacific Islands Forum, noting the country’s significant contribution to the forum since its inception. He also pointed out that New Zealand had hosted the inaugural Leaders' Meeting in Wellington back in 1971.

Looking to the future, Peters proposed that New Zealand once again serve as the venue for the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders' Meeting in 2027, further solidifying the country's long-term commitment to fostering cooperation and unity within the Pacific region.
