Clashes in Iran Leave Four Dead

(MENAFN) Violent confrontations in southeastern Iran have led to the deaths of four individuals, one of whom was a police officer, according to accounts from local press sources on Sunday.

As reported by a news agency, armed assailants affiliated with the militant group Jaish al-Adl launched an assault on a police facility in the Sistan-Baluchestan region.

This province borders Pakistan and is frequently targeted by insurgent activity.

In a formal announcement, Police Chief Mohammad Reza Eshaghi stated, “Three terrorists were killed, and two others were detained.”

He further confirmed that one member of the police force also perished during the confrontation.

The province of Sistan-Baluchestan, positioned in southeastern Iran, has been the site of numerous violent incidents involving Jaish al-Adl.

This group, which the Iranian authorities classify as a terrorist organization, asserts that it seeks to advocate for the rights of the Baluch ethnic minority residing in the area.
