Iraq’s PM Vows Strong Support for Lebanon’s Security

(MENAFN) Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani on Tuesday reiterated his government's steadfast support for Lebanon's security and the well-being of its citizens.

According to a statement from al-Sudani's media office, the remarks were made during a meeting in Baghdad with Lebanese Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar. The two officials discussed the state of bilateral relations, Lebanon’s current developments, and broader regional dynamics.

Their talks covered a range of shared priorities, including expanding cooperation in economic sectors, telecommunications, and investment. Discussions also focused on boosting private sector activity across both nations, reactivating the Iraqi-Lebanese Business Council, and regulating labor affairs and workforce mobility between Iraq and Lebanon, the statement said.

Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq's "firm and principled stance in support of Lebanon's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and rejection of aggression," according to the statement.

Haidar, in turn, emphasized Lebanon's ongoing commitment to "strengthening a constructive partnership with Iraq and expanding economic cooperation in the interests of both brotherly nations," the statement added.
