Indonesia’s FM, Somalia counterpart come together to enhance collaboration
(MENAFN) The foreign ministers of Indonesia and Somalia met in Jakarta on Thursday and agreed to enhance collaboration across several key sectors, including trade, agriculture, maritime affairs, and education, according to reports.
“Indonesia-Somalia partnership is increasingly relevant in advancing a just and inclusive world order amid today’s global geopolitical dynamics,” said Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono during the talks with his Somali counterpart, Abdisalam Abdi Ali.
Sugiono reiterated Indonesia’s dedication to offering technical support and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in areas such as fisheries, agriculture, meat processing, and healthcare. He also noted Indonesia’s involvement in supporting the establishment of an intensive care unit at the University of East Africa Hospital in Bosaso.
In the education sector, Indonesia encouraged students from Somalia to apply for various scholarships and take part in diplomatic training programs as a way to foster deeper ties between the two countries.
The discussion also touched on expanding economic cooperation, with Sugiono underlining the untapped potential for mutually beneficial trade and investment opportunities.
