Russia Gears Up to Commence Moscow-Pyongyang Flights
(MENAFN) The Russian Ministry of Transport announced on Monday that the inaugural flight from Moscow to Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), is set for July 27.
"Subsequent flights will operate monthly to build stable demand and ensure flight occupancy," the ministry stated, noting that the journey is expected to take about eight hours.
Earlier this month, Russia’s aviation regulator approved Nordwind Airlines to run this route, establishing the second direct air connection between the two nations.
At present, Air Koryo, the DPRK’s national airline, offers direct flights between Vladivostok and Pyongyang three times per week. According to a local news agency, tickets for Pyongyang cannot be purchased individually and are only available to tourists as part of organized tour packages.
