Drowning Accidents Claim Five Lives in Mongolia

(MENAFN) Five people have died in water-related incidents across Mongolia over the past two days, the country’s emergency agency confirmed on Monday.

According to a statement by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), most of the drownings occurred in rivers during the nationwide celebrations of the traditional Naadam Festival.

The agency warned that such accidents tend to spike during the summer and holiday seasons, attributing the rise to the surge of travelers heading to the countryside.

NEMA urged the public to avoid flooded rivers and exercise caution to prevent further tragedies.

So far in 2024, a total of 77 people—including 14 children—have lost their lives in water-related accidents throughout Mongolia, the agency reported.
