Kuwait Emir Makes First Official Visit to France
(MENAFN) Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah landed in Paris on Sunday, marking his first official visit to France since taking office in December 2023, according to a state-run news agency.
He is joined by a senior delegation, which includes Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali Al-Sabah and Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, the news agency reported.
“This visit reflects the prestigious position of the State of Kuwait with the French leadership and represents a pivotal milestone in the course of relations between the two countries,” stated Kuwait’s Ambassador to France, Abdullah Al-Shaheen.
The Elysee Palace described the emir’s visit as one that “embodies the deep historical ties and distinguished partnership between the two friendly countries.”
Shortly after his arrival, the Kuwaiti ruler held talks with Laurent Saint-Martin, France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, alongside representatives from the French Chamber of Commerce, according to the news agency.
During the discussions, the emir emphasized the urgency of expanding investment opportunities in key sectors and cultivating a competitive business landscape. He also urged deeper strategic engagement with France’s leading corporations.
The emir further highlighted the importance of facilitating the transfer of knowledge and attracting international investments as tools to bolster Kuwait’s economy and human capital. He reiterated his commitment to creating job opportunities for young Kuwaitis in alignment with broader national development goals.
Details regarding the length of the visit have not been disclosed.
While in France, the emir is scheduled to attend Monday’s Bastille Day military parade and will also join French President Emmanuel Macron for a luncheon.
