Istanbul ISG continues to maintain competitive edge
(MENAFN) Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen (ISG) International Airport was recognized as the fastest-growing airport in Europe for the month of May, according to an announcement from the airport’s management authority.
Passenger traffic at ISG reached roughly 3.95 million in May, reflecting a 14.9% growth compared to the same period last year. The airport has continued to maintain a strong competitive edge among other major European air travel hubs.
As outlined in the May 2025 Traffic Report released by the European Airports Council, ISG led all major European airports in growth for that month.
Since the beginning of the year, the airport has secured the ninth position in total passenger volume among airports across Europe.
Known for its convenient access and close proximity to central areas, ISG links Istanbul and surrounding regions to 148 destinations across 53 nations. These include 39 domestic routes and 109 international ones.
Data provided by the airport’s operator—an entity affiliated with Türkiye’s Secretariat of Defense Industries—show that of the 3.95 million passengers in May, approximately 1.77 million were domestic travelers while 2.17 million flew on international routes.
