Ukraine Reports Russian Drone Assault Wounded Nearly Thirty
(MENAFN) At least 27 people were wounded in a wave of Russian drone strikes targeting the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv early Monday, according to Ukrainian officials.
“Twenty-seven people were injured, including three children. As of now, two adults and a child are in hospitals - all in moderate condition,” Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov said in a statement posted on Telegram.
Synyehubov reported that the attack occurred around 5:20 a.m. local time (0220GMT), with four Russian drones striking the city’s Shevchenkivskyi and Slobidskyi districts.
“A dormitory with a fire on the 8th floor, a multi-story building, a supermarket, a cafe, the territory of a kindergarten, two cars, and a garage were damaged,” Synyehubov added.
He also noted that a separate ballistic missile hit the town of Malynivka, inflicting damage on civilian infrastructure.
In response to the strikes, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service confirmed that emergency crews and psychologists were deployed to assist at the impacted sites.
Separately, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that it intercepted 75 out of 101 drones launched by Russian forces, along with four surface-to-air guided missiles.
Russian officials have yet to publicly respond to Ukraine's assertions. However, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed it had shot down 91 Ukrainian drones across more than 10 regions, including eight over the Moscow area.
