Elon Musk, billionaire tech mogul and former Trump advisor, announced on Saturday via his platform X that he has launched a new political party in the United States called the“America Party.”

In response, the U.S. President Donald Trump sharply criticized Musk's decision. Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One in Morristown, New Jersey, Trump said,“I think forming a third party is ridiculous. It would only create confusion. He can have fun with it, but I think it's a joke.”

Trump's reaction reflects growing tension between the two influential figures. While Musk had previously donated to Trump's 2024 campaign and expressed support for Republican causes, the announcement of a new party marks a notable divergence from GOP alignment.

The emergence of the“America Party” adds complexity to an already crowded political environment, especially in an election season marked by deep partisan divides and low public trust in traditional institutions.
