Trump’s kid gives hints at possible White House run

(MENAFN) Eric Trump has suggested that he—or another member of the Trump family—could run for the U.S. presidency in 2028. In an interview with the Financial Times last Friday, the son of current President Donald Trump responded to a question about a future campaign by saying, “Who knows?” and noted that there are several family members who might consider a run for office.

Eric and his older brother, Donald Trump Jr., have led the Trump Organization since 2017, when their father handed over control to avoid conflicts of interest during his presidency. Eric currently manages the Trump Hotels portfolio, a global chain of luxury properties.

Donald Trump Jr., who was a key fundraiser during the 2016 campaign and a vocal critic of the 2020 election results, also hinted at political ambitions. He claimed to be unimpressed with many current politicians and suggested he could be effective in a political role.

The Trump family, they claimed, has not financially benefited from politics. Instead, they’ve had to spend resources defending themselves against numerous investigations, including allegations of improper ties to Russia.

Political involvement has extended beyond Eric and Donald Jr. In Donald Trump’s first term, Ivanka Trump served as director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship, while Eric’s wife, Lara Trump, currently serves as co-chair of the Republican National Committee.

In May, Donald Trump Jr. also said he wouldn’t rule out running for president himself.
