Russian FM attends CSTO to discuss cooperation between Russia, Kyrgyzstan


(MENAFN) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived Saturday in Cholpon-Ata, a resort town in Kyrgyzstan, for an official visit centered on regional security discussions and participation in a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), according to general reports.

During his visit, Lavrov is scheduled to hold meetings with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev and President Sadyr Japarov.

Lavrov will also take part in the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, representing the Moscow-led regional security alliance.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, talks will concentrate on enhancing cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan across various sectors, including political, economic, military, cultural, and humanitarian areas.

“There will also be an exchange of views on key regional and international developments and prospects for advancing Eurasian integration,” stated Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
