GCC To Partake In Annual IMF Meeting - Chief

RIYADH, June 25 (KUNA) -- GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Budaiwi affirmed Wednesday Gulf Keenness to enhance international presence by attending joint economic events during annual meetings of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, due in Washington in October.
Al-Budaiwi mentioned this came during a meeting held via video conference with the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the IMF, Jihad Azour and the relevant team.
He praised the IMF's role in strengthening the strategic partnership with the GCC countries, noting the importance of cooperation in confronting global economic challenges, including inflationary pressures and oil price fluctuations.
The ongoing preparations for the joint meeting between the finance ministers and central bank governors of the GCC countries and the managing director of the IMF was discussed, as will the meeting with countries of Central Asia were a number of economic topics of common interest will also be conversed.
Al-Budaiwi also pointed out the success of the Gulf Economic Event, organized by the council at the World Bank headquarters last year, it contributed to strengthening efforts to prepare for the next event in cooperation with the IMF, for an occasion that aims to enhance dialogue on economic challenges and opportunities in the GCC.
