The collapse took place in Guizhou province, which has been relentlessly battered by intense downpours.

Authorities detected structural damage to the bridge during a routine inspection on Tuesday and swiftly enforced traffic restrictions on the uphill lanes to ensure safety.

An investigation has been launched to determine the exact reasons behind the bridge failure.
Simultaneously, the Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters in Rongjiang county issued an urgent evacuation order.

Water levels in the Pingyong, Zhaihao, and Duliu rivers within the county are rising sharply.
Forecasts reveal that these rivers have already surpassed the threshold of what is classified as a once-in-30-years flood event.

Since last week, roughly 70,000 residents have been moved to secure locations.

In addition, southern China's Guangdong province was impacted by severe flooding last week, affecting around 300,000 people.

The provinces of Anhui, Hubei, and Guizhou, along with Chongqing, have all been struck by heavy rains, triggering a flood emergency response.
