Power Outage Rocks Ethiopia

(MENAFN) Parts of Ethiopia, including its capital city Addis Ababa, were hit by a power outage, the Ethiopian Electric Utility announced on Monday.

The state-run power company explained in an official statement that the disruption was triggered by a technical issue within the country’s main electricity grid.

"Following the measures taken by Ethiopian Electric Utility, the power supply has now been fully restored across all regions, including Addis Ababa," the utility confirmed.

Ethiopia has been aggressively expanding its renewable energy capacity in recent years to support national development goals and to promote regional energy connectivity.

Earlier this year, Ethiopian President Taye Atske Selassie highlighted that the country, which already provides electricity to neighboring nations such as Djibouti, Kenya, and Sudan, is collaborating with 14 African countries to enhance continental electric power integration.
