Japan Calls for De-escalation Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Tensions

(MENAFN) Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya has urged a reduction in hostilities between Israel and Iran, emphasizing the critical need to stabilize the volatile situation.

During a phone conversation on Friday with Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Iwaya voiced serious apprehension about the ongoing cycle of retaliatory strikes between the two nations and the significant damage being inflicted.

He highlighted that actions likely to intensify the conflict must be avoided and stressed that achieving calm is essential.

Additionally, Iwaya sought assistance from the Israeli government to guarantee the protection of Japanese citizens residing in Israel.

On the same day, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that 87 Japanese nationals, along with their family members, have evacuated Israel and Iran overland to neighboring countries for safety.
