Ukrainian PM Calls for Boost in Military, Financial Aid


(MENAFN) On Friday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal convened with European Union ambassadors to coordinate a unified strategy against Russian aggression, calling for heightened military, economic, and humanitarian support.

Shmyhal declared on X, “In the face of massive Russian aggression, there is an urgent need to increase support.”

In addition, he brought attention to the importance of implementing sanctions and utilizing frozen Russian assets as a critical resource to finance Ukraine’s defense and recovery initiatives.

During the meeting, Shmyhal outlined the government’s key wartime objectives, focusing on maintaining economic resilience, driving reconstruction projects, strengthening the defense sector, and pushing forward Ukraine’s progress toward EU integration.

Referring to the upcoming EU accession talks, he remarked, “We look forward to the earliest possible start of negotiations on clusters,” indicating the specialized sectors of EU legislation Ukraine must harmonize with.

He concluded by expressing gratitude, stating, “I thank the EU and all member states for their unwavering solidarity with Ukraine.”
