Chinese President Holds High-Level Talks with Central Asian Leaders
(MENAFN) Media reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping held a series of high-level talks with Central Asian leaders on Tuesday during his visit to Astana, Kazakhstan, where the 2nd Central Asia-China Summit is currently underway.
During the summit, Xi engaged in one-on-one discussions with the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan — Sadyr Japarov, Emomali Rahmon, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, respectively.
A key focus of Xi's dialogue with Kyrgyz President Japarov was the advancement of the long-anticipated China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. Xi called on both nations to push forward the railway's development and urged Bishkek to work together to resist unilateral actions and uphold a fair and orderly global trade system that supports more balanced and just international governance.
In response, Japarov reiterated Kyrgyzstan’s backing for three major international initiatives proposed by Xi.
Meanwhile, in talks with Tajik President Rahmon, Xi voiced China’s continued support for Tajikistan’s efforts to protect its “national independence, sovereignty, security.”
The Chinese leader had also met a day earlier with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The two leaders committed to deepening cooperation in a wide range of sectors, including energy, aerospace, agriculture, digital transformation, healthcare, tourism, science, media, and medicine.
