Yemen Hits Israel with Missile Strike: Israeli Military
(MENAFN) Tensions soared further in the Middle East on Monday as Israel’s military reported a fresh missile strike from Yemen, intensifying the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran.
In an official statement, the Israeli army confirmed that the missile attack set off air-raid sirens in the country’s southern region. While details remain sparse, there was no immediate response from Yemen’s Houthi faction regarding the alleged strike.
Separately, sirens were also activated in the Jordan Valley area of the occupied West Bank following what the Israeli military described as a breach of its airspace by a “hostile” aircraft. The statement did not specify the origin or nature of the incursion.
The latest developments come amid a dramatic escalation that began Friday, when Israel launched coordinated airstrikes targeting various Iranian locations, including military and nuclear installations. The strikes prompted a swift and forceful retaliation from Tehran.
According to Israeli officials, Iran’s missile response has resulted in at least 24 deaths and several hundred injuries since Friday. In contrast, Iranian authorities reported a much higher toll from the Israeli assault, claiming 224 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured.
As cross-border attacks continue, fears are growing over the potential for a broader regional conflict drawing in multiple fronts, including Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq.
