South Korea, Australia Agree to Bolster Ties

(MENAFN) South Korean Leader Lee Jae-myung and Australian Premier Anthony Albanese reached a mutual understanding on Thursday to deepen their partnership in military and essential mineral sectors, as reported by local media outlets.

During a telephone conversation, the South Korean head of state spoke with the Australian leader, and both parties agreed to enhance joint efforts in the areas of defense, weaponry, and critical minerals, according to a news agency, which referred to a statement from Lee’s representative.

This marked the initial phone call between the two leaders since President Lee assumed office last week.

Additionally, Lee and Albanese pledged to reinforce dialogue and collaboration to achieve tangible results regarding the North Korean nuclear issue.

They also agreed to work together toward the successful hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit scheduled to take place in Gyeongju, South Korea, later this year, as reported by the agency.
