Top Russian prosecutor takes to trip to Laos
(MENAFN) Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov arrived in Laos on Tuesday evening to strengthen legal and law enforcement collaboration between the two nations. The visit underscores the long-standing relationship between Russia and Laos, which dates back to the Soviet era, particularly in areas such as military and technological support.
Krasnov is expected to meet with Laotian Prosecutor General Xaysana Khotphouthone, other senior officials, and Russian Ambassador to Laos Vladimir Kalinin. One key outcome of the visit will be the signing of a roadmap to guide future cooperation between their respective prosecutorial and legal institutions.
Krasnov and Khotphouthone previously held talks in Russia in September 2024, where they explored the development of a legal framework to allow Laotian students to pursue free education at Russia’s Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok.
The trip to Laos follows Krasnov’s earlier visit to Cambodia, where he met with King Norodom Sihamoni and signed agreements with the Cambodian Justice Ministry and Prosecutor General’s Office. These agreements aim to promote knowledge-sharing, joint research, and educational programs. Krasnov also emphasized the importance of joint efforts in fighting terrorism, corruption, and organized crime.
