Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in Cameroon Kills Seven


(MENAFN) At least seven fatalities were confirmed Tuesday following a multi-vehicle collision in Cameroon, authorities reported.

The deadly incident unfolded on a busy highway in the Matomb area within the Nyong-et-Kelle department, part of the Centre region where Yaounde, the nation’s capital, is situated.

Eyewitnesses described how two trucks first collided, causing a lengthy traffic jam, which was then followed by a second crash involving around ten vehicles.

According to a state broadcaster, five victims died instantly, while two others succumbed to injuries en route to a nearby hospital.

The prefect of Nyong-et-Kelle, Chaibou, stated to reporters that the injured individuals are receiving medical care at the hospital following his visit to the accident site.

Police have initiated formal investigations to determine the precise cause of the catastrophic crash, officials confirmed.
