Ukrainian kamikaze drone strikes apartment building in Russia

(MENAFN) A Ukrainian kamikaze drone struck an apartment building in the Russian city of Kursk early Tuesday, killing one person and injuring at least nine others, according to reports from the Telegram-based Mash news channel.

The drone attack, described as “massive,” damaged five residential buildings. Footage from the scene showed a gaping hole in the facade of one building, with several rooms destroyed by the blast.

Residents reported hearing up to 40 explosions during the assault.

Kursk Region Governor Aleksandr Khinshteyn confirmed ongoing artillery and drone strikes from Ukrainian forces targeting border villages. On Monday alone, five civilians were reportedly killed in those attacks.

In August, Ukrainian troops briefly crossed into Kursk Region, seizing the town of Sudzha and nearby villages. Russia has since reclaimed most of the area. The Russian Investigative Committee has accused Ukrainian troops of executing civilians during their occupation of several settlements.
