Afghan Interim Government Cuts Workforce to Improve Efficiency

(MENAFN) The Afghan interim administration is cutting staff across its military and civil institutions, a move officials say is aimed at improving governance and curbing bureaucratic growth.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the administration, confirmed the reductions during remarks to the media.

"Reduction and increase in the departments is natural and those at the helm of affairs know which one is for the interest of the nation. In some organs, especially in the military sector, reduction has been implemented, but in the civil sector, a low percentage will be slashed," a media source quoted Mujahid as saying on Wednesday.

According to Mujahid, the decision is part of broader efforts to enhance administrative efficiency, prevent excessive expansion of government bodies, and streamline operations.
