China Suspends Boeing Imports Amid Escalating Trade Tensions with U.S.

(MENAFN) China has directed its airlines to suspend imports from U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing, amid intensifying trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies, a media outlet reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the report, Beijing has asked Chinese carriers to stop accepting further deliveries from Boeing and to cease purchasing aircraft equipment and parts from American companies.

The Chinese government is also reportedly considering support measures for domestic airlines operating Boeing jets, as the trade standoff deepens.

The move comes as China’s 125% tariffs on U.S. imports officially took effect Saturday, following the Trump administration’s decision to raise tariffs on Chinese goods to 145%.

Beijing has stated it will refrain from further tariff hikes, even if the U.S. escalates its actions. The trade war, initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump, has unsettled global markets and further strained relations between Washington and Beijing.

Tensions were heightened after Trump announced a 90-day tariff pause for all countries excluding China.
