Algeria Orders 12 French Embassy Officials to Depart Country
(MENAFN) Algeria has commanded twelve staff members from the French embassy to depart the country within two days, as confirmed by the French foreign minister during an interview with a French newspaper.
According to Barrot, “This decision would be a response to the arrest of three Algerian nationals suspected of serious offenses on French national territory.”
He labeled the measure as “unjustified,” as reported by a news channel.
Barrot expressed that France and Algeria had mutually agreed to “reweave the thread of dialogue in the service of our two countries,” and he urged Algerian leaders to cancel the planned expulsions, arguing that the move was unrelated to the current judicial matters.
He also stated that France would take action “immediately” in case Algeria proceeded with the expulsion of its diplomats.
