Kenya Officially Acknowledges Kosovo’s Independence
(MENAFN) Kosovo’s leader confirmed on Wednesday that Kenya has officially acknowledged Kosovo’s independence.
Vjosa Osmani shared the announcement on Facebook, expressing that Kosovo respects Kenya’s recognition of its sovereignty and independence.
This happened after Kenyan Leader William Ruto issued a statement, which was delivered to the Kosovan Presidency.
Osmani described the recognition as “a testimony of the ongoing support for the right of the people of Kosovo to freedom, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
She also expressed gratitude to Ruto for making “this fair and important decision.” Furthermore, she thanked Behgjet Pacolli, the previous president and foreign minister of Kosovo, who helped in announcing Kenya’s recognition.
Pacolli, who emphasized the significance of this step, called Kenya "one of the most important countries in Africa."
He stated that “This recognition is not just a declaration - it is a great victory for the state of Kosovo, it is the voice of our freedom that is heard deep in the heart of Africa,” sharing his thoughts on Facebook.
He also called for the government of Kosovo to “immediately” build diplomatic ties with Kenya as well as considering opening a shared embassy with Albania in Nairobi.
