QCS Hosts Cancer Survivors And Families For Ghabqa

Doha, Qatar: Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) organised its annual event, 'Hope Ghabqa' targeting over 500 cancer survivors and their families at Rixos Gulf Hotel Doha.

The event featured various entertainment activities and competitions for children living with cancer, distributing gifts and celebrating the occasion of 'Garangao'.
General manager of QCS, Mona Ashkanani expressed her immense joy at the event, saying,“The organisation of this annual event reflects the Society's mission to offer comprehensive support to individuals living with cancer, including psychological, social, and material support, in addition to continuous awareness programmes.
“We are dedicated to providing all forms of support to this group, and the Society has launched many programs specifically focusing on these aspects.”

Ashkanani added,“Through the organisation of Hope Ghabqa we aim to highlight the inspiring stories of individuals who have conquered the disease, demonstrating the human ability to stay hopeful and return to life in a better way. This event represents a new ray of hope for cancer survivors and their families as they journey toward healing and recovery.”

Head of the Psychological and Community Support Department at QCS, Dana Mansour said,“We are always seeking to identify the specific needs of cancer patients and their families (caregivers) and assist them in managing the side effects of cancer treatment. We provide psychological and social support, in addition to guiding patients to available services in Qatar that help them navigate the treatment phase smoothly.”

Mansour also highlighted that the Society offers advice aimed at maintaining a healthy lifestyle and enhancing the ability of patients to engage in daily activities as much as possible.

She stated,“Our goal is to improve the quality of life for patients and survivors during treatment and after, helping them return to their normal lives and contribute effectively to society post-treatment.”
