Ukraine Describes Talks with U.S. as ‘Productive’

(MENAFN) Ukraine had "productive" meetings with a US delegation in Saudi Arabia, as reported by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on Sunday. Umerov shared on X that the meeting concluded successfully, with focused discussions on crucial issues, including energy.

Umerov reiterated Ukrainian Leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s commitment to achieving a "just and lasting peace" for Ukraine, underlining its importance for the stability of Europe. He emphasized that Ukraine is actively working towards making this goal a reality.

The talks in Riyadh set the stage for further discussions between the United States and Russian delegations aimed at securing a ceasefire to end the current war that has lasted three years.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff expressed hope for peace, with a possible starting point being a Black Sea ceasefire. However, ongoing attacks from the two sides have raised doubts about the possibility of meaningful progress.
