North Korea Tests New Surface-to-Air Missile

(MENAFN) North Korea has successfully conducted a test of its new surface-to-air missile, as reported by a state media on Friday.

The test, overseen by the Missile Administration, was intended to assess the combat capabilities of the newly created air defense system, which has now entered full-scale production, based on a local news agency.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un attended the missile launch, but specific details regarding the missile’s name and the location of the test were not disclosed.

Official photos released by the state showed the missile striking a target over the ocean and exploding in midair.

Earlier, North Korea tested its "Byolji-1-2" surface-to-air missile during mutual military drills between the United States and South Korea in April 2024.
