Dhaka: Ethiopian Airlines will operate four weekly passenger flights to Hanoi from Addis Ababa, with a layover in Dhaka, starting from July 10. The airline has announced the commencement of this service and provided further details with a press release on March 18.

ET0678, the flight to Hanoi, will depart Addis Ababa at 22:30 local time on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and arrive in Dhaka at 8:25 on the next day. After a one-hour layover, the flight will take off at 9:30 and land in Hanoi at 13:10.

The return flight to Addis Ababa, ET0679, will depart Hanoi at 14:10 local time on the same day of arrival to reach Dhaka at 15:50 and have a one-hour layover, similar to the Hanoi-bound flight. The flight will later take off at 16:50 and arrive in Addis Ababa at 21:35.

Ethiopian Airlines will deploy its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners on these flights. But the release didn't mention the exact variant, as the airline operates the -8 and -9 variants of the type.

As of this writing, no other carrier offers a direct flight between Hanoi and an African destination, and this new connection, with an aim to enhance trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Ethiopia, will benefit both business and leisure travelers.

Previously, Ethiopian Airlines had launched nonstop flights to Dhaka from Addis Ababa in November 2024 as the first carrier to offer a direct connection between these cities. The airline currently operates five weekly flights on this route, and connecting Hanoi would further extend this network.

Ethiopian Airlines, the largest African airline in terms of both fleet size and destinations served, currently operates a fleet of 140 airliners and serves 160 domestic and international passenger and freighter destinations across five continents.

The airline ensures passenger comfort and environmental sustainability utilizing ultra-modern airliners such as the Boeing 737, 777, 787, Airbus A350, and De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400, while its multi-hub strategy enables a network that connects worldwide destinations with the entire African continent.
