Authorities have launched intensive campaigns to prevent illegal parking around mosques , particularly during Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers in the last 10 days of Ramadan. The aim is to ease congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow as thousands of worshippers gather for prayers.

Ajman Police strongly urged drivers to park in designated areas and follow traffic regulations to avoid fines and contribute to a safer environment for worshippers.“We call on the community to cooperate and park responsibly. Simple actions, such as choosing proper parking spots, can make a significant difference in ensuring smooth traffic flow and safety for everyone,” Capt Hamdan Ahmed Al Raisi, head of traffic awareness and media at Ajman Police said.

The crackdown comes as illegal parking has risen due to an increase in worshippers during the final days of Ramadan.“As the number of worshippers increases during the last 10 days of Ramadan, we have observed a rise in improper parking , which not only causes traffic congestion but also poses safety risks. Our campaign focuses on raising awareness and enforcing traffic laws to prevent these violations,” explained Capt Al Raisi.

As part of the ongoing campaign, Ajman Police have deployed additional patrols around mosques and will impose strict penalties on violators. Motorists found parking irresponsibly - such as blocking roads, parking on sidewalks, or obstructing other vehicles - face heavy fines and black points on their driving records.

Parking in the middle of the road carries a fine of Dh1,000 and six black point , while blocking another vehicle will result in a Dh500 fine. Parking at intersections, curbs, or sidewalks also carry Dh500. In addition to fines, illegally parked vehicles may be towed, causing further inconvenience and penalty to offenders.

Capt Al Raisi reiterated that the campaign is part of ongoing efforts to maintain public order and ensure safe vehicle and pedestrian movement, particularly during peak prayer times.

Sharjah Police have also stepped up patrols around mosques during Ramadan, especially during the pre-dawn Tahajjud prayers, to manage traffic and prevent illegal parking. This is part of their plan to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety as worshippers flock to mosques.
