Türkiye transports three critically injured victims of nightclub fire to Istanbul for treatment
(MENAFN) Türkiye has transported three critically injured victims of the Kocani nightclub fire in North Macedonia to Istanbul for treatment. The Turkish Health Ministry's ambulance plane landed at Sabiha Gökçen Airport on Sunday, transferring the patients to the burn center at Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital.
The deadly fire, which erupted late Saturday night, claimed 59 lives and left at least 155 injured, according to local reports.
Following an urgent request from North Macedonian authorities, Türkiye dispatched two medical evacuation planes. The first aircraft transported the three victims to Istanbul, while a second plane, operated by the Turkish Defense Ministry, carried six more injured individuals to Ankara Bilkent City Hospital for specialized care.
Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu extended condolences to North Macedonia and reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to providing further medical assistance if necessary.
In response to the tragedy, the North Macedonian government declared a seven-day national mourning period beginning Monday.
