(Eurostat): Eurozone Inflation Drops To 2.3 Pct


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, March 19 (KUNA) -- Data revised by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat) showed on Wednesday that the annual inflation rate in the euro area dropped to 2.3 percent in February 2025, which is lower than the previous estimate of 2.5 percent.
The rate in the same month of the previous year was 2.6 percent, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, said in a report.
It added that the annual inflation rate in the European Union reached 2.7 percent in February 2025, down from 2.8 percent in January. The rate in the same month of the previous year was 2.8 percent.
Eurostat reported that the lowest annual rates were recorded in France (0.9 percent), Ireland (1.4 percent), and Finland (1.5 percent). The highest annual rates were recorded in Hungary (5.7 percent), Romania (5.2 percent), and Estonia (5.1 percent).
Official statistics show that annual inflation decreased in fourteen member states, remained stable in six countries, and rose in seven countries compared to January 2025.
Eurostat pointed out that the services sector was the largest contributor to the rise in the annual inflation rate in February 2025, with an increase of 1.66 percent, followed by food, alcohol, and tobacco with an increase of 0.52 percent.
In contrast, the prices of non-energy industrial goods increased by 0.41 percent, while energy prices saw a rise of 0.01 percent. (end)
