Azerbaijan accuses Armenia for attacking its military sites

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Azerbaijan announced that Armenia had again targeted its military sites with cross-border fire for the third succeeding day.

According to an initial remark by Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry, Armenian troops stationed close to the establishments of Arpa, Saybali, and Vagan in the Keshishkend, Garakilseh, and Chenbarak areas opened fire on Azerbaijani positions during the night. The incident reportedly occurred between 10:15 p.m. on Monday and 12:20 a.m. local time on Tuesday (1815GMT and 2020GMT).

In a follow-up statement, the Ministry added that Armenian forces close to Istisu, in the Basarkechar district, also launched an attack on Azerbaijani military sites on Tuesday at approximately 8:55 a.m. local time (0455GMT).

In response, Armenia’s Defense Ministry released a routine denial, alleging that the reports "do not correspond to reality."

The most recent reports indicate that for the third day in a row, Azerbaijan has indicted Armenia of attacking its military sites. This comes just days after both nations separately revealed a draft peace covenant, which aims to resolve their long-standing dispute and initiate formal diplomatic relations between Baku and Yerevan.
