NASA Astronauts Successfully Return to Earth
(MENAFN) A SpaceX Dragon capsule transporting NASA astronauts Sunita Williams along with Barry “Butch” Wilmore safely landed off the coast of Florida on Tuesday, after being in the International Space Station (ISS) for over nine months.
Joining them on the journey back were NASA astronaut Nick Hague as well as Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, who also came back to Earth after their extended stay in orbit.
NASA confirmed the successful water landing, marking the conclusion of a mission that extended well beyond its initial timeline.
The four astronauts started their anticipated trip to their home on early Tuesday, departing from the ISS at 1:05 a.m. local time (0505 GMT) aboard the Dragon capsule. Their return took nearly 17 hours before landing on the waters off Florida's seaside.
