(MENAFN- UkrinForm) U.S. President Donald Trump is having a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

This was announced on social media X by White House Spokesperson Dan Scavino, according to Ukrinform.

According to Trump's representative, the American and Russian leaders have been in talks since 10:00 EDT (17:00 Moscow time).

"The call is going well, and still in progress," Scavino wrote.

Earlier, Trump had promised to discuss terms for a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war with Putin.
