Sheriff’s deputy dies in police chase after patrol vehicle accident
(MENAFN) A sheriff's deputy tragically lost his life following a Police chase that ended with his patrol car colliding with a light pole, breaking the vehicle in two, police confirmed.
The incident took place on Monday morning, moments before 11 a.m., in San Bernardino, California, when authorities received a report of a possible stolen car spotted by Deputy Hector Cuevas, Jr., from the Victorville City Station, according to a news agency.
"Deputies attempted a traffic stop but the suspect, Ryan Turner, failed to yield and a pursuit ensued," stated the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department. "During the pursuit, Deputy Hector Cuevas, Jr. was involved in a traffic collision with another vehicle."
The crash occurred near the intersection of El Evado and Seneca roads, where Cuevas’ patrol vehicle collided with a bystander's car before smashing into a light pole, causing the vehicle to split in half.
